VET Fiber Matrix™ K-9
VET Fiber Matrix™ K-9 is an advanced bone graft product for general bone grafting applications in dogs. It is produced from canine cortical bone that has been processed to create Demineralized Bone Fibers (DBF™) using TheraCell’s proprietary and patent pending Fiber Matrix Technology™. The bone is recovered and manufactured using aseptic techniques, treated to remove the mineral component and generate DBF™. The DBF™ is packaged and treated with a proprietary Electron Beam irradiation protocol to retain biological activity while ensuring sterility for surgical implantation. VET Fiber Matrix K-9 is packaged hydrated with physiological buffer and is all natural with no additives. It is a Veterinary Engineered Matrix™ (VET) product that is designed for ease of use intraoperatively to allow accurate placement into bone defect sites and to avoid migration. It can be used alone or with autograft, bone marrow aspirate or other bone graft materials. It rapidly wicks fluids and swells to facilitate complete filling of the defect and ensure complete bone repair. It also allows bone forming cells to become integrated into the matrix allowing for rapid and reliable bone healing.
The morphology of the DBF™ fibers is designed to enhance the bone healing potential based on 20 years of research by our Chief Science Officer. Studies in various animal models have demonstrated significant improvements in quantity and quality of bone formation compared to standard granular demineralized bone products. In a challenging rabbit posterolateral spine fusion model fiber based grafts outperformed autograft such that they met the criteria to serve as autograft substitutes.
